March 14th

Lauren Weinstein
Brooklyn based graphic novel artist Lauren Weinstein's surrealist alternative comics detail a complex world where a pall of mystery, sexual intrigue and violent death hangs over the animal kingdom, outer space, and suburban America alike.

Acclaimed cartoonist, Lauren R. Weinstein will be showing highlights from her first decade of work, from the early gag comics she did for Seattle’s underground weekly paper, The Stranger, to the teenage girl strips she did for Girl Stories, to her newest sci-fi fantasy endeavor, The Goddess of War. She’ll be talking about her evolving process of making comics, her experiences working with small and big publishers. Interspersed in the presentation she will be “performing” excerpts of her work, from “Robot Takes a Walk”, to some pieces from Girl Stories, to her epic middle school saga, “Horse Camp”.
